"JIM IN BOLD": GIVING MEANING TO SUICIDE

Jim Wheeler was a gay teenager who committed suicide. His family was traumatized. His Mother launched a personal crusade against bullying in schools, especially bullying directed at gay teenagers like her son. Glen Holsten, a Philadelphia TV News reporter, used Jim Wheeler's suicide to frame a documentary named "Jim In Bold" in memory of Jim Wheeler. "Jim In Bold" explores the social and psychological struggles young gay people face while coming to terms with their sexual orientation in small towns all across America. Susan Wheeler, Jim's Mother, gave a short talk at Equality Forum on May 1,2005. She hopes "Jim In Bold" will save other mothers from losing their children.
